Going pro: your questions.

A career plan?Let's talk about your current level and your goals.

01

Will my SDI instructor certification be recognised worldwide?

Yes, absolutely. SDI (Scuba Diving International) is a member of the RSTC (Recreational Scuba Training Council) and the EUF. Your certification is recognised worldwide, just like PADI or SSI. You'll be able to work at any dive centre, from the Maldives to Thailand and across Europe.

02

I'm already an instructor (PADI/SSI) — is the “Crossover” to SDI complicated?

No, it's a logical bridge. We don't teach you to dive again; we train you in the SDI/TDI philosophy and teaching system. The Crossover is intensive but short (usually 2 to 3 days), focused on standards, student management and the teaching freedom our agency offers.

03

Why do my IDC (Instructor Development Course) at Neotec rather than at a resort?

For the quality of the mentoring. At a resort, it's often a production line. At Neotec, you're trained by a technical Course Director. You'll learn not only to teach, but also to run the business side of diving, sell courses and adopt the operational rigour of technical diving. You'll stand out on the job market.

04

Do I need to be a “Tek” or “Cave” diver to become an instructor with you?

No. You can become a Recreational Instructor (OWSI) without any technical diving experience. However, training at a technical centre will give you far-above-average ease and equipment control (buoyancy, trim), which will make you a better teacher.

05

Do you offer support finding a job after the course?

Yes. The Course Director's role doesn't end when the certificate is handed over. Sébastien Wilem has an extensive international network. We help our candidates write their professional CV, advise them on destinations and can recommend them to partner centres looking for quality instructors.
